Looking for a free POS app is perfectly reasonable, especially when a business is new and every rupiah counts. The catch is that "free" can mean many things: a 7-day trial, features cut until they are useless, or limits you only notice once your data piles up. This article explains what free means at Bakasir, limits included, so you can decide with your eyes open.
The Bakasir free POS app: what the Free plan includes
The Free plan has no end date, needs no credit card, and does not switch itself off after a few days. Its current limits are:
| Item | Free plan limit |
|---|---|
| Outlets | 1 |
| Register terminals | 1 |
| Staff | The owner plus 1 cashier |
| Products | 100 |
| Transactions | 300 per month |
| Report history | 31 days |
| File storage | 1 GB |
| Receipts | Carry a Bakasir mark |
Within those limits you get a real register, not a demo: sales, cash and non-cash payments, product management, stock and purchasing, customers and sales reports. The register opens in a browser through Web POS, and sales are still saved if the internet drops. For the flow, see the first sale guide.
What the Free plan does not include
To avoid surprises, these items need a paid plan:
- Paid plugins. Accounting, HRM, an online store and similar modules can only be installed on a paid plan.
- Dynamic QRIS and digital payments through your own Midtrans account. See the QRIS at the register article.
- Table management and the kitchen display for restaurants and cafes, which start at the Tumbuh plan.
- The Owner mobile app for watching your business from anywhere, which starts at the Mulai plan.
- Receipts without the Bakasir mark and report history beyond 31 days.
The full per-plan breakdown is on the pricing page, including which plugins are bundled with Mulai, Tumbuh and Enterprise.
What happens when you reach 300 transactions a month
This is the most important question about any free POS app, and you should know the answer before you start. The rules are:
- Once the month's 300-transaction quota is used, further online sales are declined until the month rolls over or you upgrade.
- Sales that already happened while a device was offline are still accepted when they sync, even if they push you over the quota. The owner and cashier are notified.
- Your data is not deleted and your account is not locked. Only new data above the plan limit is restricted.
In practice, a small shop doing around 10 transactions a day will usually fit within 300 a month. If you handle dozens of transactions daily, plan your upgrade before the month ends.
How the 14-day trial works, then back to Free
Every new account starts on the Tumbuh plan for 14 days with no card. During that time you can try the full feature set, including promotions, loyalty and the online store. After 14 days you have two choices:
- Subscribe to the plan that fits, or
- Do nothing. The account drops to the Free plan automatically. It is not suspended and your data stays; only new data above the Free limits is declined.
For a paid plan that is not renewed, there is a 3-day grace period after the due date, then 7 days of read-only access, after which the account returns to the Free plan. A renewal reminder is sent 7 days before the due date.
When Free is enough, and when to upgrade
The Free plan usually fits if all of these are true:
- You have one shop and one checkout counter.
- You handle fewer than 300 transactions a month.
- Your catalog is 100 products or fewer.
- You do not need dynamic QRIS, an online store or accounting.
Consider upgrading when any of these changes. The Mulai plan at Rp99,000 per outlet per month adds a higher staff limit, dynamic QRIS, promotions and the Owner app. The Tumbuh plan at Rp299,000 per outlet per month adds three terminals per outlet, up to ten staff per outlet, tables and kitchen, loyalty, an online store and the Report Builder. Annual billing equals 10 months for 12. Prices and limits can change, so check the pricing page before you decide.
An example of a first week
To make it concrete, picture a small shop that has just signed up. On day one, the owner loads 40 best-selling products through a CSV import and enters opening stock. From day two to day seven, they sell through Web POS on a laptop they already own, record cash and QRIS, close the register each night and match the cash in the drawer. At the end of the week they open the sales report to see the best sellers. All of that fits inside the Free plan, with no credit card and no fee.
Tips to make the Free plan feel roomy
- Sell products, not endless variations. 100 products go fast if every size is its own product. Use variants for one item that comes in several versions.
- Watch your quota. Check the month's transaction count on the Dashboard so the 25th does not catch you out.
- Export reports monthly. Report history on Free is 31 days, so save a monthly PDF or Excel file.
- Compare fairly. Use the POS selection checklist to keep the comparison honest.
If the limits feel right after a month, stay on the Free plan. If you often brush against the quota, that is a good sign: your business is growing, and upgrading becomes an investment, not a burden.
Next steps
The most honest way to judge a free POS app is to try it with your own shop's data. Signing up takes a few minutes, and you can import products by CSV or move data from your old app as described in the guide to switching POS apps.
Ready to try it yourself? The Free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card.

No. The account drops to the Free plan and your data stays. Only new data above the Free limits is declined.
Can I upgrade in the middle of the month?
Yes. Plan payments run through Midtrans with the available methods, and any gateway admin fee is shown on the payment page before you pay.
